Logistics & Delivery
Coordinate drivers and customers in real-time with automated delivery notifications.
What is Logistics & Delivery?
Voice in Logistics Logistics is a real-time business. Drivers are on the road. Customers are waiting. Warehouses are processing. When something goes wrong — a delay, a failed delivery, a route change — communication needs to happen instantly, at scale, across hundreds or thousands of simultaneous events. Email is too slow. SMS is often ignored. A phone call cuts through. Vobiz gives logistics companies, last-mile delivery providers, courier networks, and supply chain platforms the programmable voice infrastructure to build communication systems that match the pace of their operations.
The Problem It Solves
Delivery Notifications and Confirmations The most common voice use case in logistics is the pre-delivery and post-delivery notification call. Before a delivery attempt, an automated outbound call confirms that the recipient will be available. The call uses text-to-speech to read the expected delivery window and asks the recipient to press 1 to confirm, press 2 to reschedule, or press 3 to redirect to a collection point. The response updates the delivery management system immediately via webhook. When a delivery is successfully completed, an automated call can request confirmation from the recipient. When a delivery fails, an automated call explains the reason and offers resolution options. Each of these communications is triggered automatically by events in the logistics platform and executed by Vobiz without any human involvement. Machine detection is particularly valuable in logistics calling. Many recipients have their phones set to go to voicemail, especially during work hours. With machine detection enabled, Vobiz identifies when a call has reached voicemail and either drops the call (saving the cost of leaving an unanswered message) or plays a shorter voicemail-specific message. This significantly improves the efficiency of delivery notification campaigns.
How Vobiz Powers It
Driver and Dispatcher Communication For field operations, the Conference API enables three-way or multi-party calls between drivers, dispatchers, and customers when a delivery situation requires all parties to coordinate. The dispatcher can initiate a conference from their operations system, dialling in the driver and the customer simultaneously, without any of the parties needing to organise the call manually. For driver check-ins, an IVR built on Vobiz allows drivers to call a central number, enter their zone code or vehicle ID using the keypad, and be routed to their regional dispatcher automatically. This replaces manual dispatcher coordination and ensures every driver check-in is logged with a timestamp.
Why chooses Vobiz?
"Exception Handling at Scale Last-mile delivery generates a high volume of exceptions — failed attempts, address issues, recipient unavailability, damaged packages. Each exception requires a communication to the customer. At scale, this is hundreds or thousands of communications per day. Vobiz's bulk outbound calling with personalised text-to-speech handles this volume programmatically, freeing the exceptions team to focus on resolving complex issues rather than making routine notification calls. The CDR API provides delivery operations managers with full visibility into exception communication outcomes — how many exception calls were answered, how many went unanswered, how many customers chose to reschedule, and how many chose collection point pickup. This data feeds directly into operational efficiency reporting. ---"
